Sione Katoa

Sione was born in Hamilton, New Zealand and is of Tongan descent. He moved to Sydney in 2003 at the early age of 6.

 

With multiple stand-out games at his junior club, the Chester Hill Hornets, Sione earned a spot in the Parramatta Eels junior squad, where he excelled. 

After a great season with the Parramatta Eels junior squad, Cronulla Sharks signed Sione. 

 

In 2016-2017, Sione scored 44 tries in 49 games and was named ‘Winger of the Year’ in the 2017 Holden Cup Team.

 

Pre-season 2018, Sione impressed selectors and earned his place in the NRL Premiership Squad, debuting against North Queensland Cowboys. 

 

In 2019, he returned to the Cronulla Sharks NRL premiership side. With stellar performances throughout the year, he was selected to play for his home country Tonga in the Rugby League World Cup 9’s.

 

In 2022, Sione scored 14 tries in only 16 games and was selected to play for Tonga in the Rugby League World Cup.
